I loved this film, the audience I was part of loved this film, and the little 7 year old girl who was with me loved this film. We all laughed at the puns, the visual humour, and the good feeling you left the cinema with when it ended.

I would have rated this movie 4 stars if it had subtitles in English. Asterix the Gaul Inhabitants of the last unconquered village in Gaul ancient France use a magical potion to hold their independence from Roman invaders. He is to build the palace and be covered in gold or, if not, his fate is to be eaten by crocodiles.

I originally watched it with my French host mom's grandkids, who were 5 and 7, but I giggled right along with them. Numerobis wins a large amount of gold, Getafix receives manuscripts from the Library of Alexandriaand all the protagonists partake in a banquet including some of the movie's Roman antagonists.
It was the most expensive French movie at that time, before being beaten by A Very Long Engagement two years later.
